BIOGRAPHY:

Dr. McCullagh received her doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the University of Hartford, West Hartford, CT in 1999.  Prior to undertaking doctoral studies, she attended Teachers College, Columbia University, NY, where she earned a masters degree in Developmental Psychology in 1989.  Her bachelor of arts degree in Psychology was completed at Mount St. Mary College in Newburgh, NY, where she graduated magna cum laude.

Dr. McCullagh's professional training includes academic work and clinical experience in many different mental health modalities including psychological testing, adult and child psychotherapy, and couples and family therapy. She has treated a full spectrum of mental health concerns from those that are very mild to problems that are much more severe.  In her practice, she enjoys working as a "generalist" because it gives her an opportunity to assist people with a variety of issues and stay current in her knowledge about many types of problems.  Based on more specialized training, she is able to advise other professionals in their psychotherapeutic work with adults presenting with severe and persistent emotional disorders.

Dr. McCullagh is a member of the American Psychological Association and continually develops her skills and knowledge  by attending professional workshops and conferences.  She pursues her longstanding interest in Jungian Psychology through the reading of contemporary authors, and actively pursuing continuing education in this area.  Her approach to assisting clients with problems in living has also been broadened by the writings of such authors as  Thomas Moore and Joseph Campbell.  In addition to reading, she enjoys many outdoor activities, maintaining caring relations with animals and nature, cooking, and a variety of movies and film
